Milena Mikael-Debass is an Emmy award-winning journalist with a background in documentary filmmaking, breaking news and international development with a focus on sub-Saharan Africa.
She is a director and producer with over a decade of experience covering underreported stories of agency and resistance. During her time at Al Jazeera, Huffington Post and VICE News, she produced a variety of projects including live broadcasts, television docuseries and digital-first short docs.
Born in Switzerland to Eritrean parents, Milena spent her formative years in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. She spends her spare time learning tennis and hunting for the perfect tiramisu.
